This is our first blog for over a month so sincere apologies for the radio silence. Thankfully, the excuse is a relatively good one - we’ve just had a barnstorming October.
On the last day of the month alone we completed on seven (yes seven!) #3rdGen deals, two drawdowns and one further advance. Together they totalled just over £13m — now that’s what you call an Oktoberfest!
October wasn’t just busy on the deals and completions front, either. Last month we announced three new hires in Rick Hollingsworth, Donna-Louise House and George Lyall, taking our total headcount to 23 since we launched last summer.
Rick joins us from HSBC as Senior Structured Finance Manager — making the slightly unusual leap from Canary Wharf to Camden — and will report into Alex Tyrwhitt, our Head of Structured Finance.
He’ll be working alongside Alex and the structured finance team on all the most complex deals we structure, which clearly these days I’m a little, ahem, busy for so need to delegate.
Donna-Louise, meanwhile, has joined Team Octane as a Senior Credit Manager. Donna’s a well-known and highly regarded figure in the industry, having previously worked in firms as diverse as Shawbrook Bank, GE Capital and LendInvest.
Her remit is simple enough: to get more #3rdGen loans underwritten and into the market. Her commercial as well as technical expertise will ensure she does exactly that.
Meanwhile, George has come onboard as an Internal Business Development Associate, having previously worked 'down under' for a major residential lender, Millbrook Mortgage Management.
George’s role will be to work closely alongside brokers and our BDMs to get as many #3rdGen loans over the line in the quickest possible timeframe. After the October we’ve just had, all I can say is: the more, the merrier.
