A week or two back, Kris Corns, Operations Director at Crystal Specialist Finance, asked me to join him on his company’s podcast and talk through what we're doing here at Octane. Clearly it was hard to resist. You know me: any chance to talk about the #3rdgen of lending and I’m there.

During the podcast, I talk a little about my home life and how I’ve ended up spending 19 years in the UK, not nine months. Life never quite pans out as you think it will.

We discuss how I ended up entering the specialist lending market and what the sector looked like pre-and post-Credit Crunch. Kris and I also chat about the original thinking behind Octane Capital when we launched into the already-saturated bridging finance market.

As some of you will already know, Octane entered the market with a #3rdgen approach to lending that has no products but instead prices according to risk. It's a highly flexible and fast way to lend, and brokers have been really positive about it since we launched in 2017.

Myself, Jonathan Samuels and Matt Smith knew we were entering a jam-packed bridging market, but with the experienced engine room behind us and a key differentiator, we have managed to carve out a market share.

Having now been in the market for two years, we have reached over £400m in lending and our loan book currently stands at over £200m. All in all, we’re on track and the future is looking bright, with our number of broker partners growing by the day.
