The sun sets at 16:43 in London this evening, long before many of us can even think of going home for the day. It’s pitch black when you get into the office, and pitch black when you leave.
But all is not lost. To keep spirits high in this darkest month of the year, and give you all something to look forward to, we're pleased to announce the inaugural Octane Capital 5-a-side Cup.
The biggest event of the calendar year (yes, bigger even than a certain wedding) will be taking place at Powerleague Wembley, in the shadow of the stadium itself, on the afternoon of 28th June (when the sun will set at 21:21, incidentally).
This also happens to be the day that England will be playing Belgium in the real World Cup (the one without the knobbly knees and beer bellies).
That group stage match kicks off at 7pm BST and all the teams from our competition will be staying on to watch it on the big screen along with a big braai (that’s south African for a Barbie), and, I'm sure, plenty of free beers.
The good news is that we already have 19 teams taking part, from brokers and packagers to law firms (to ensure everything proceeds in an orderly fashion). Accepted teams to date include many #3rdGen #FounderBrokers including -

- Howard Kennedy
- Seddons
- Weightmans
- and many more….
With a bit of luck, top industry title, Mortgage Strategy, will also be in attendance - with one of its editorial team assisting with the trophy presentation. If they reckon they’re good enough, they could even put forward a team of their own….
