Third generation lender, Octane Capital, today announced it has hired Rick Hollingsworth as Senior Structured Finance Manager. He will report into Alex Tyrwhitt, Octane Capital's Head of Structured Finance.
Rick joins Octane Capital from HSBC Commercial Banking where he spent over 13 years, most recently as a Senior Corporate Banking Manager focusing on real estate finance across multiple business sectors, including hotels.
Rick will work alongside Alex Tyrwhitt on complex loan finance, an area in which ultra-flexible, 'product-less' #3rdgen lending has been proven to thrive. Rick is the latest recruit to the rapidly growing Octane team, which has expanded from just three last year to 22.
Rick Hollingsworth, Senior Structured Finance Manager, Octane Capital, said:
“After 13 enjoyable years in one of the world's biggest banks, I'm looking for a new challenge and the ability to work in a much smaller team and make a direct mark on the growth and success of Octane really appealed. Whereas HSBC was steeped in regimented systems, Octane empowers you to think differently about how finance can be structured and find a way around the obstacles that invariably present themselves. It lets you off the leash and allows you to use your instinct, which is an opportunity I'm relishing."
Matt Smith, Director of Risk, Octane Capital, added:
“From Canary Wharf to Camden, and blue-chip to start-up will be a big cultural change for Rick but he knows Alex well from his days at HSBC so that will smooth his transition. That said, there's a huge amount of method in the ostensible madness that is product-less #3rdgen lending and Rick's understanding of processes and structure will stand him in good stead. We are still a relatively young company but our plans are big and Rick's big company mindset will be key in helping us achieve them.”
